Mike Mitsch, General Manager, Enterprise Servers, IT Platform Group, NEC Corporation of America

Mike has been in the computer industry for over 25 years starting with Perkin-Elmer in the introduction of the industry's first 32-bit minicomputer. Mike has held a series of leadership positions within the business development, marketing and sales organizations of enterprise products. Mike worked extensively with Microsoft to launch the Express5800 server series, the industry's first RISC-based servers for Windows NT, winning numerous industry awards, as well as marking the official introduction of NEC servers in North America. Mike was also instrumental in the introduction of the industry's first Intel-based Fault Tolerant Express5800 server systems, bringing continuous availability for the first time to standard operating system environments. Recently, Mike was responsible for forging a relationship with IBM's Data Management group to release the first DB2 "off-platform" benchmark demonstrating best-in-class performance of NEC's Itanum2-based Express5800 series of servers. Mike represents NEC Corporation as a Steering Committee Member of the Itanium Solutions Alliance (ISA), and manages leading alliances with Microsoft, Novell, RedHat, S/W Soft, VMware, and XenSource.
