Mr. Toshiya Kurakake

BladeSymphony is the first true enterprise-class blade server, combining the density and flexibility of a bladed architecture with the performance, scalability, availability and manageability of traditional mainframe systems. A wide range of enterprise customers are using it to consolidate and scale their most demanding, mission-critical applications, and to virtualize and consolidate systems and workloads at the network edge, the application tier, the database tier-or all three.

Hitachi blades are available with Dual-Core Intel® Itanium® processors and with Dual-Core and Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processors. All three blade modules can be mixed and matched in the same chassis to optimize performance for any combination of 64-bit and 32-bit applications. The Itanium-based server blades can be used as separate 2-processor systems, or they can be linked via a high-speed backplane to combine 4, 6 or 8 CPUs in true SMP configurations. Combined with Hitachi's embedded virtualization capabilities, this provides exceptional flexibility for scaling up or out in the same chassis-and for optimizing utilization and workload management.

These dense, high-performance systems integrate network, power, server and management resources into a single chassis, and include advanced reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) capabilities that support uninterrupted operation. Features such as redundant and hot-swap components, N+N power supplies and N+M failover protection enable mission-critical applications to be deployed with confidence.
